Desktop Overlay

On Windows, any Nexus widget can be pinned as a floating overlay that sits directly on your desktop - transparent and click-through everywhere except the widgets themselves, so it never gets in the way of what you are doing. Overlay widgets pull live data from the same widget engine the dashboard runs, not a simplified copy.

1. Pinning a widget

  1. Open the Dashboard tab in Nexus.
  2. Right-click any widget on the dashboard, then choose Add to desktop.
  3. The widget appears floating on your desktop. Repeat for as many widgets as you like.

To take one back off, right-click the same widget type on the dashboard and choose Remove from desktop, or unpin it from the overlay itself.

2. Managing the overlay

Next to the dashboard's Add Widget button sits Desktop Widgets. It opens the overlay's control panel:

  • Enable - turn the whole overlay on or off.
  • Monitor - which display the overlay lives on.
  • Scale - 50 to 200 percent, resizing the overlay grid and widget content together.
  • Opacity - overlay transparency, previewed live as you drag.
  • The pinned list - every pinned widget with its size and monitor, each removable individually, plus Unpin all.

3. Working with widgets on the desktop

Right-click a widget on the desktop for its own menu:

  • Always on top - keep this widget above other windows.
  • Lock / Unlock, and Lock all widgets / Unlock all widgets - a locked widget cannot be moved, resized, or edited until unlocked; Unpin stays available.
  • While unlocked: the size row, Edit for the widget's settings, and drag to reposition.
  • Open dashboard - jump back to the full app.

Note

The overlay is a Windows feature. On other platforms, the same widgets are available on the dashboard and on panels.
