Pairing Your Phone

Pairing takes under a minute, works with iOS and Android, and needs nothing installed on the phone.

1. Open Pair remote

In Nexus on your PC, click Pair remote at the bottom of the sidebar. The pairing dialog opens on the Camera Pairing tab with a QR code.

2. Scan the QR code

Point your phone's camera at the QR code and open the link it offers. The code refreshes itself on a countdown, so always scan the one currently on screen.

3. Or type a code instead

Prefer typing? In the pairing dialog, switch to the Code Pairing tab. It shows an Address and a 6-digit Code, and works on the local network only: open the shown address in the phone's browser and enter the code.

The dialog's Connection options also include Find on Wi-Fi (Never / Next 10 min / Always), which lets phones on your network discover this computer without typing an address.

4. Confirm on your PC

Every path ends the same way: your PC asks to pair the device, with the note Confirm this number matches what your phone shows: followed by 6 digits. Check that the phone shows the same 6 digits, then click Allow. This comparison confirms it is really your device and shuts out anyone sitting in the middle. If the numbers differ, click Deny.

Note

Pairing is rate limited: after 5 failed attempts it locks out for 5 minutes. Pairing again from the same device refreshes its authorization.

5. Device connected

The device now appears under Authorized devices as connected. It stays paired: it reconnects on its own, at home or away, always end-to-end encrypted.

6. Your phone's live panel

The phone shows your PC's live panel: monitoring, lighting, media, and controls. Arrange its widgets from the dashboard, or straight from the phone - see Panel Widgets & Layout.

7. Managing paired devices

Everything lives in the same Pair remote dialog:

  • Authorized devices lists each paired device with its status and last-seen time. Remove one device, or use Remove all. Any removed device must scan a fresh pairing code before reconnecting.
  • Allow remote control is the master switch for remote devices - see Remote Access.
