Panel & Screen Issues
A touch panel or on-device screen is blank, frozen, or missing from Nexus.
These steps are safe for every panel and screen Nexus drives. What each device supports is covered in Touch Panels & Screens.
- Check the physical connection. Reseat the device's cables, USB first. If the panel connects through a hub or splitter, try a direct motherboard port instead.
- Check the device appears in the dashboard. Open the Devices page: panels Nexus knows about are listed there. If yours is missing, treat it as a detection problem first and work through Device Not Detected, including the Connected Devices check to see whether the OS sees the hardware at all.
- Close other software that drives the same screen. A screen is like any other controller: one app should own it. If Nexus detects a known conflicting app it shows a Conflicting apps detected warning; close what you do not need and restart Nexus.
- Restart the service. Windows: restart Nexus Service in Services (
services.msc). Linux:sudo systemctl restart nexus. macOS: quit Nexus and launch it again. - Reboot the PC. If the screen is still blank after the reboot, power the PC fully off and on rather than a warm restart, so the device itself power-cycles too.
If the panel shows in the dashboard but displays the wrong content, check its layout and appearance settings in Panel Widgets & Layout and Panel Appearance before treating it as a fault.
Still blank or missing after a full power cycle? Collect the logs and report it, ideally with the panel model and what the screen showed at each step: Log Files & Reporting a Bug.
Note
Panels are driven by the Nexus service on the PC. If Nexus is not running, the panel cannot show live content, so an unexpected blank screen right after boot is often just the service not having started; see Installation & Startup Issues.
