Phone Remote Overview
Any phone or tablet can become a live control panel for your PC. After a one-time pairing, the device shows a touch panel with monitoring, lighting, cooling, and media controls - the same widgets that run on your desktop dashboard, reflowed for the phone screen.
1. What the panel gives you
- Live monitoring - CPU, GPU, memory, temperatures, and more, streamed from your PC.
- Lighting and cooling controls - change RGB effects and cooling behavior from across the room.
- Media controls - play, pause, skip, and volume for whatever is playing on the PC.
- A widget grid you arrange yourself - add, move, and resize widgets across pages, from the dashboard or straight from the phone. See Panel Widgets & Layout.
- A wireless webcam - your phone can even act as a webcam for your PC through the panel's Camera widget.
2. How it connects
Pairing starts from the Pair remote button in the dashboard: scan a QR code with the phone (or type a short code), confirm a 6-digit number on both screens, and click Allow on the PC. No account is required. The full walkthrough is in Pairing Your Phone.
Once paired, the connection works two ways:
- At home, the phone talks to the PC directly over your local network.
- Away from home, the connection runs through an encrypted relay, and Nexus upgrades to a direct peer-to-peer link between the phone and the PC whenever one is possible. Every remote session is end-to-end encrypted. Details in Remote Access.
3. Browser or app
The panel works in a plain mobile browser with nothing installed on the phone. There are also companion apps for iOS and Android. See iOS & Android Apps for what each path offers.
Tip
A paired device stays paired: it reconnects on its own, at home or away. You can see and manage every paired device under Authorized devices in the Pair remote dialog.
If a phone will not connect, see Phone & Remote troubleshooting.
